CARROLLTON, TX— Accor North America has reopened three Motel 6 properties and a Studio 6 in the Gulf Coast Region. More than $6 million was invested to rebuild the hotels following last year’s hurricane devastation in the area. Three of the reopened properties are in Louisiana and include a Motel 6 in Slidell; a Motel 6 in New Orleans; and a Studio 6 in New Orleans. The other property is a Motel 6 in Gulfport, MS. One of the most damaged Accor properties was the Motel 6 located in East New Orleans. The hotel, which at one point was submerged in four feet of water, underwent a $2 million overhaul that included a restoration of its interior, as well as repairs to a severely damaged roof. As part of the renovation, the property was upgraded with Motel 6’s new room décor featuring new draperies, residential paint colors, carpeting and custom-designed bedspreads. The reopened Studio 6 property is located directly behind the Motel 6 in East New Orleans. All four floors of that property had to be completely renovated due to extensive flooding and all the soft goods and furniture had to be replaced. The $3-million restoration included the installation of new guestroom carpets, drapes, spreads, furniture, appliances and granite kitchen countertops. The Motel 6 property located in Slidell had very minimal damage, according to Accor. The Motel 6 in Gulfport, like the New Orleans Motel 6, was updated with Motel 6’s new room package design. The $1.4-million-renovation included demolition, clean-up and a complete restoration of its interior.
