Hāna-Maui Resort
Hāna-Maui Resort

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Rebranding and renovation plans are underway here and abroad. Here’s a look:

Hāna-Maui Resort Joins Hyatt’s Destination Hotels Brand
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Mani Brothers Real Estate Group to rebrand the 75-room Travaasa Hāna into Hāna-Maui Resort, under the Destination Hotels brand. Located in Hāna on the eastern tip of Maui, Hāna-Maui Resort is set above Hāna Bay overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Hāna-Maui Resort has 75 guestrooms, suites, bungalows and family residences. Additional amenities include two dining options, an indoor-outdoor spa and wellness center, two pools, a yoga pavilion and adventure-driven and cultural experiences. In light of COVID-19 local travel restrictions, Hāna-Maui Resort has currently suspended operations and anticipates resuming operations on Oct. 1, in accordance with the state of Hawaii’s guidelines. The resort plans to remain open through a planned two-year phased renovation, which includes enhancements of all accommodations, arrival areas, dining outlets and pools.

Rosen Hotels & Resorts Reopens Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista as Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista
The 640-room Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista is now ready to stand on its own within the Rosen brand as the Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista. As a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, when the rebranded Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista reopens on Oct. 1, it will continue to offer identical opportunities such as free parking and free WiFi in guestrooms. The property spans 23 acres with water features throughout, including a children’s splash zone  and covered lakeside picnic area. Additionally, the new VIP Perks Program offers guests, including those on the Choice Hotels’ points program, an opportunity for savings.

The Westin Awaji Island Rebrands as a Grand Nikko Property
Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Hotel Okura Co. Ltd., is expected to open the Grand Nikko Awaji on Oct. 1. After being operated as The Westin Awaji Island and managed by Yumebutai Co. Ltd. and Marriott International Inc. for 20 years, the hotel will be rebranded as a Grand Nikko property and operate under new management. Located on the northern tip of Awaji Island in Japan, the hotel opened in March 2000 as the core facility of the Awaji Yumebutai hotel and conference center complex. It is accessible from Honshu via the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge. The rebranded Grand Nikko Awaji will have 201 guestrooms, four restaurants and a lounge, seven banqueting rooms, wedding facilities, a spa and fitness center with indoor and outdoor pools and tennis courts.
