LONDON—The Novotel London Canary Wharf, a 39-story hotel with 313 rooms and 26 individually designed suites, has opened here.

Additional amenities at the hotel include a New York-style gym and pool, nine meeting rooms, a ground-floor coffee shop as well as a bar and restaurant with a rooftop terrace.

The entrance features a staircase that draws the guest to the upper levels of the public areas. Suspended by copper vertical rods and with heavy solid character oak steps, the staircase is the centerpiece to the hotel’s industrial design, which is influenced by Canary Wharf’s maritime history. Renowned artist Sam Peacock’s turquoise and red landscape wall with a dusting of Arabica coffee grains stands alongside darker woods, metals and rope.

Check-in and checkout is facilitated with tablets—there is no reception desk.

Sam Peacock’s second creation is another landscape feature wall stained in coffee, adding texture alongside copper, metals and ropes. These are all softened by mustard fabrics, gray chairs and a central soft-seated area.

Nine meeting rooms, each individually designed around the commodities brought in from the Canary Islands, conjugate off a shared social area. For instance, West India Room has dark woods, brass and glass. East India room is complete with a rope settee and an automated dark wooden table. Other rooms include Crate, Log, Tobacco, Rum, Coffee and Spice, a nod to the goods from the islands which used to come into the port. The Silk Room has an oval table and glass chandelier surrounded by a teal silk curtain.

The guestrooms also blend natural woods, gold, copper and soft grays. They offer flat-screen TVs, work desks and sleek bathrooms. Suites, in addition to the facilities found in the bedrooms, offer a full range minibar, turndown service and private concierge. Soft-sofa seating areas, stocked bookcases and in some cases freestanding bathtubs are also included.

BoKAN 37 Restaurant, BoKAN 38 Bar and BoKAN 39 Bar and Roof Terrace serve modern European dishes, while Canary Coffee serves Climpson & Sons coffee, Joe’s Tea Co and Kokoa collection hot chocolate, as well as artisanal snacks, breakfast bites, cakes and pastries to eat in or take away.

A free library allowing customers to take a book as long as they share one back is available as well.
