NEW YORK—The Renwick Hotel, a historic property in the heart of midtown Manhattan, has joined the Curio – A Collection by Hilton. It’s the first hotel in the city to be part of the brand’s collection.
Housed in a 1920s brick building, The Renwick Hotel New York City, Curio Collection by Hilton is located two blocks from Grand Central Station and a short distance from Bryant Park, the New York Public Library and Times Square. It’s owned by a joint venture between Meadow Partners and hotel Asset Value Enhancement (hotelAVE), and managed by StepStone Hospitality.
The hotel provides 173 guestrooms and suites, and the interior design pays homage to culture and art from the Roaring Twenties, according to the company. Named after James Renwick, Jr.—the architect who designed St. Patrick’s Cathedral—the hotel has been completely renovated by architecture and interior design firm Stonehill & Taylor.
The gallery rooms and residential-style suites are outfitted with amenities that include easels and paint, writing paper and ink, artwork and literature. There are also hand-painted drapes depicting the New York skyline, artist stools and ceramic pen cups that feature pages from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.
String art and a mixed-media mural are featured in the lobby. Stairwells and bathrooms have one-of-a-kind murals; and Brooklyn, NY-based Apotheke supplies handmade bath amenities created solely for the hotel. The hotel’s dining venue, Bedford and Co., offers contemporary American cuisine.
