HAMBURG, GERMANY—There are currently 23 new hotel projects in the pipeline here, according to Top Hotel Projects, a provider of global b2b data.

One project, which will become a Holiday Inn, is situated in the City Nord where BP’s former headquarters are located. Besides the new building, the former BP building will be refurbished. The 18 story, 297-room hotel, the brand’s second in the city, is being developed by TAS and Bierwith & Kluth. It’s expected to open at the end of 2016.

The Fontenay, a 130-key property, will also open in 2016 on the site of a former InterContinental hotel located at the Outer Alster. Prizeotel is building a 218-room budget hotel between the central train station and the harbor town, while Accor is planning two Ibis hotels with a total of 448 rooms, as well as an Adagio apartment hotel downtown.

In the Hanseatic City, a 192-room Ameron business hotel, a 205-room Innside by Melia hotel, a 275-room Intercity Hotel and the 128-room Citadines Michel Hamburg are being built.

Other hotel projects include the 280-room Sportlife Hotel Othmarschen, opening in December; the 100-room B&B Hotel Hamburg, opening March 2014; the 90-room Stadthaushotel HafenCity Hamburg, opening early 2015; the 261-room Ramada Hotel Hamburg-Hammerbrook, opening autumn 2015; and the 244-room Westin Hamburg, opening spring 2016.
