LAS VEGAS—Steve Zanella has been promoted to president and COO of the MGM Grand Detroit.
With his new title, Zanella’s responsibilities have been expanded beyond overseeing all resort operations to include guiding the future strategic direction of the property. He will continue to report to George P. Corchis, Jr., president and COO of regional operations for MGM Resorts International.
Prior to this role, Zanella served as general manager since 2010. He has also held the position of SVP of marketing for MGM Grand Las Vegas. He joined the company in 1991 as a participant in a hands-on training curriculum for college graduates, and advanced in the company through finance, marketing and gaming leadership positions.
Zanella earned his bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is currently earning a Masters in business administration at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
