NEW YORK— According to new research conducted by Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell, women business travelers are more discerning than men when it comes to amenities/services that will streamline their travel experience. “Women clearly prefer services that minimize the hassles associated with business travel: airline ticketing and baggage check in at your hotel, automated flight arrival/departure displays in the hotel lobby, 24-hour room service, a delicatessen on the premises, plus an interactive television system that provides personalized information about local events, activities, dining, entertainment and news,” said the report. In fact, women are significantly more interested than men in “comfort” amenities, including separate vanities, make-up mirrors and hairdryers. Sixty-two percent of women surveyed by YPB&R said those features are “very desirable,” as compared to 37% of men. Other features such as baggage check-in and airline tickceting at the hotel are desired more by women (70%) than men (57%), as is complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport (82% women, 70% men). Security is also a top-of-mind concern for women, noted the survey, as 98% of women rated a “safe place to stay” very desirable as compared to 87% of men. More women than men also felt that breakfast included in the room rate was a plus.
