PITTSBURGH, PA— Denver-based Sage Hospitalitys historic renovation of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel has garnered 2001 Hotel of the Year honors by Marriott International. Originally built in 1906 by industrialist Henry Phipps, the landmark Fulton Building— located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh on the Allegheny River— underwent a $45-million restoration transforming it into a 300-room luxury hotel. To accomplish this task, Sage Hospitality, Marriott and the City of Pittsburgh formed a private/public partnership to develop the lodging property.
