ST. AUGUSTINE, FL Eric Pfeffer, chairman and CEO of Cendant Corp. s Hotel Division, told attendees of the Wingate International business conference this morning that the brand is well poised to take market share from Marriott, Doubletree, Hilton and Hyatt in this slowing economy.

“This could be a golden opportunity for Wingate Inns because your hotels offer everything a business traveler needs,” said Pfeffer. “We can capture business travelers trading down from four- and five-star hotels,” he added.

Pfeffer said that through the first quarter of 2001, Wingate, which is an all new-build, high-tech product aimed primarily at the business traveler, saw a 4% increase in RevPAR. (4/20/01) Ruthanne Terrero
