PARSIPPANY, NJ The Wingate Corp. hopes to build a 146-room hotel on vacant land in Edgewater, NJ that would cater to corporate guests desiring close proximity to Manhattan.

Last week, Wingate brought a proposal before the borough s Zoning Board of Adjustment to seek variances for the hotel project, which would consist of a nine-story hotel on land that is zoned for office buildings only three-stories high.

The zoning board did not yet make a decision, but will listen to more of Wingate s plans for the hotel at its next meeting in March. (2/9/01)
