NEW YORK— HOTEL BUSINESS® has learned industry veteran Andy Papoutsis has been named vp/managing director of The Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort & Golf Club. He succeeds Reinhard Werthner, who after eight years in the position at the 600-room resort, has been promoted to vp/hotel development for Tishman Hotel Corp. Papoutsis is responsible for the entire resort, including managing the 1,200 member staff, all f&b outlets, rooms and sales and marketing at the 500-acre property in Puerto Rico. He most recently served with Wyndham International as regional vp/operations, Southeast region, concurrently serving as general manager at the Wyndham Atlanta Downtown. Papoutsis also spent 17 years with Stouffer Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, and held positions with Hilton Hotels Corp. Werthner will return to the States and be based in Washington, D.C., where he will concentrate on expanding Tishman’s hotel projects in new markets. He is currently working on several projects in Europe. Werthner oversaw The Westin Rio Mar Beach since its pre-opening stage.— Stefani C. O’Connor
