SYRACUSE, NY— A new Westin hotel is scheduled to open here in 2009. The 350-room hotel will be owned by Wilmorite LLC and managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Called the Westin Syracuse Convention Center, the hotel will be located at 800 South State St. and connected by a sky-bridge to the Oncenter Complex, a 99,000-square-foot convention facility. The hotel will offer 17,000 square feet of meeting space and 5,000 square feet of food and beverage facilities. Other hotel amenities will include a lobby bar, an indoor pool and the Westin Kids Club®. In addition to serving business travelers, the Westin Syracuse Convention Center is expected to attract some of the more than 2 million visitors to the annual New York State Fair, which is hosted in Syracuse in the late summer.
