AUSTIN, TX— Internet access service provider Wayport is teaming up with Intel Corp. to not only promote its own wireless and wired services to the lodging industry, but also Intel’s forthcoming Centrino mobile technology for notebook PCs. This move by Intel comes quickly after the vendor’s financial arm, Intel Capital, invested in another lodging industry high-speed Internet access service provider, STSN, to provide wireless Internet access service to approximately 400 Marriott hotels nationwide. In this latest agreement, Wayport and Intel will work together, through nationwide marketing and advertising, to drive awareness of Wayports Wi-Fi (802.11b) hotspots-areas where notebook users can connect to the Internet and corporate networks wirelessly. Intels new Centrino mobile technology, featuring built-in Wi-Fi capability, will be implemented in PC manufacturers notebook computers. Currently Wayport has deployed its services in 475 hotels and 10 airports.
