PARIS—Warwick Hotels and Resorts has acquired The Capital Group, consisting of The Capital hotel, Capital Apartments and The Levin Hotel, all located in London’s Knightsbridge district. Having built a presence in cities such as Paris, New York, Geneva, Dubai, San Francisco and Barcelona, Warwick extends its strategic development into London through this latest acquisition.
The Capital Group consists of 72 total keys. The Capital, a 49-room, five-star boutique property, is located near to the famed Harrods luxury department store. The hotel is home to the Michelin-starred restaurant Outlaw’s at The Capital, the only London eatery by chef Nathan Outlaw. Its sister property, The Levin Hotel, is a 12-room boutique luxury hotel in a townhouse. Additionally, the group manages studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments (11 total) also located on Basil St. in Knightsbridge.
“Our group is very pleased with this acquisition as The Capital Group, headed by David Levin, shares the same hospitality philosophy as Warwick,” said Richard Chiu, president of Warwick Hotels and Resorts. “Being a family business ourselves, we are proud to be able to conclude this transaction with the Levin family and to maintain the family spirit that characterizes the two groups.”
With this sentiment in mind, Kate Levin will retain her position as GM of The Capital hotel and David Levin will have a consultative role to Warwick.
The negotiations leading to the acquisition were conducted by Vasu Majumdar of Grant Thornton for the Levin family, and Ulla Schneider, Eric Soukiassian and Frederic Pasquer for Warwick.
