ANAHEIM—Walt Disney has named Bob Chapek, who has run the company’s consumer products unit since 2011, to the position of chairman of its parks and resorts division.
Chapek replaces Thomas Staggs, who was named COO of the company earlier this month. Before heading consumer products, the 22-year Disney veteran ran the Walt Disney Studios’ distribution and was president of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The consumer products unit reported income of $626 million for the quarter that ended in December, a 46% increase from the year prior.
In his new position, Chapek will report to Staggs as well as CEO Bob Iger.
