BOGOTA, COLOMBIA—W Hotels Worldwide, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., has opened W Bogota here.
“The opening of W Bogota is a milestone in Colombia’s hotel landscape, setting the stage for a redefined luxury experience in one of the world’s most vibrant destinations,” said Paul James, global brand leader, W Hotels, St. Regis and The Luxury Collection. “As emerging economies expand, so does tourism, and W Bogota’s highly anticipated debut is symbolic of the whims and wishes of today’s more global and interconnected modern travelers.”
Owned by Terranum and operated by Starwood, W Bogota is the 46th W Hotel worldwide, and third W Hotel in Latin America after W Santiago and W Mexico City. With the opening of W Bogota, the company gets closer to its 100th hotel in Latin America. Starwood currently has 84 hotels in operation and 16 in the pipeline.
“Starwood has been aggressively expanding its presence in Latin America and is on track to reach 100 hotels by 2017,” said Jorge Giannattasio, chief of Latin America operations and global initiatives, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “Colombia is a priority market for our company, and we are certain that there is no better time than now to introduce this completely new lifestyle and modern luxury concept into the country.”
Located steps away from the Usaquen district, between the city’s mountains and financial center, W Bogota provides guests and locals with a cutting-edge and modern design interpretation of the Legend of El Rey Dorado (the golden king), according to the company. The myth’s ancient rituals and precious elements are brought to life throughout the hotel’s guestrooms, public spaces and bars and restaurant.
W Bogota’s 168 guestrooms and suites include the signature W Bed, Bliss bath amenities, the MixBar (the W brand’s reinterpretation of the mini bar), and a 360-degree floor-to-ceiling mirror. The Extreme WOW Suite (the W take on the Presidential Suite) features the green of the Colombian emeralds and the deep blue of the great lagoon of Guatavita, according to the company. The E-WOW Suite features multiple lounge spaces, a central bar and an oversized.
W Bogota offers three distinct spaces for guests: W Lounge (the W brand’s version of the traditional lobby) features gold-dusted and local interpretation of Bogota’s urban art by Vertigo Graffiti; Au Room, a nightlife venue that is slated to open early next year; and Market Kitchen, by Culinary Concepts, which features a farm-to-table menu inspired by world-class dishes and Colombia’s variety of fruits and vegetables.
W Bogota features five meeting rooms and more than 7,900 sq. ft. of versatile, state-of-the-art space, including The Great Room of 2,347 sq. ft.
Guests also have access to the W brand’s new gym concept and Away Spa, as well as an indoor pool.
