OYSTER POINT, VA—The Omni Newport News here has rebranded as the Magnuson Hotel & Convention Center Oyster Point.
The 182-room hotel is located four blocks from shopping, dining and entertainment at Oyster Point Square Newport News. The Stratford University Newport News Campus is nearby and Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis Army Base are a 20-minute drive away.
The property offers free wireless Internet access, indoor pool, fitness center, business center and more than 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. All guestrooms include hair dryer, mini-fridge, alarm clock/radio, free local calls, cable television, electronic door locks and iron with ironing board.
Expansion plans include a new wing with 220 guestrooms, a parking garage and an indoor water park.
The project is estimated at $35 million.
“The year round-water park will be open to the general public, which is not something typically offered in the market,” said Ray Patel, owner of the Magnuson Hotel.
