LAS VEGAS At a presentation to the American Gaming Summit held here, William Weidner, president of Las Vegas Sands, the parent company of The Venetian, announced that because of the increased convention business in Las Vegas and the high demand for rooms, a 1,000 room addition to The Venetian is currently in the planning stages.
To justify the expansion, Weidner discussed several room statistics for 2000. Overall ADR per occupied room was $197 during the fourth quarter of 2000, compared with $176 for the same period in 1999, while convention and group ADR was $218 compared with $181 in the fourth quarter, 1999. Overall occupancy was 94.4% during Q4, compared with 82.9% during the same period in 1999. (1/11/01)
