DALLAS, TX— Travelodge President/CEO John Valletta has tipped his hand a bit about near-term expansion plans for both the Travelodge and Thriftlodge brands. During the course of promoting the organization’s upcoming international conference, Valletta indicated Travelodge Hotels would build on its strength and presence in the southern and western portions of the U.S. by adding more hotels in the Northwest and Northeast. Furthermore, he added the brand is expected to continue growing at the double-digit pace “weve enjoyed since 2000.” Valletta similarly maintained the brand plans to further develop each of its tiers, including the Travelodge World Resorts, in U.S. gateway destinations. Moreover, in line with serving the needs of budget travelers, Valletta also reported Travelodge Hotels would continue to build the budget Thriftlodge tier by increasing the number of that product’s locations throughout North America. At presstime, the Travelodge franchise system lists 589 upper-economy Travelodge and budget Thriftlodge properties and more than 47,281 guestrooms throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
