SALT LAKE CITY Utah officials may ban hotel price gouging during the 2002 Olympic Games. The issue could come in the form of a bill passed during the next legislative session. However, the law may be too late because most of the 32,000 guestrooms within a two-hour radius of city are already booked for the Olympics. Georgia lawmakers passesd a similar law during the 1996 games in Atlanta, making price hikes a misdemeanor, punishable by a $100 to $1,000 daily fine. (12/14/00) Source: Salt Lake City Tribune
