ATLANTA— U.S. Franchise Systems has promoted Steven Hymans and Teri Fox to svp/operations for the Hawthorn Suites hotel brand, and Microtel Inns & Suites and Best Inns and Best Suites brands, respectively. Hymans is responsible for overseeing all of Hawthorns operating and marketing functions including national sales, frequency marketing, franchise services, training and sales support. Fox will oversee franchise services, training, hotel sales support, S.W.A.T and project development for the brands. Both svps will report to Roy Flora, svp/franchise operations. Hymans joined USFS shortly after the companys inception in 1995 with an extensive background in the management of such extended-stay chains as Residence Inn and Summerfield Suites, as well as a number of years in non-extended-stay hotel operations. Hawthorn brand hotels consist of Hawthorn Suites, Hawthorn Suites LTD., Hawthorn Hotel and Suites, Hawthorn Suites Golf Resorts, and Hawthorn Inn & Suites hotels. U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc. acquired the franchise rights to the Hawthorn brand in 1996 and full ownership in 1998. As of Dec. 31, there were 122 Hawthorn branded hotels open or under construction worldwide. Fox also joined USFS in 1995 with experience in supervisory positions with Days Inn, Holiday Inn and Best Western. As of Dec. 31, there were 266 Microtel branded hotels and 220 Best Inns and Best Suites branded hotels open or under construction worldwide
