ATLANTA, GA— U.S. Franchise Systems executives called this year’s conference/trade show attendance of something over 250 delegates “encouraging,” given the state of the nation’s economy and currently sluggish travel patterns. By midday Sunday, prospects were reportedly slim that this year’s level of registrants— filing into the Marriott Marquis here— could reach the hoped-for 300-attendee mark. However, as USFS SVP of Marketing Jon Leven remarked, those who did show seemed to be “among the best, brightest and most business-minded” of the system’s franchisees. Additionally, it was also contended the on-site presence of some 80 outside vendors helped to qualify this year’s trade show segment of the USFS conference proceedings as “ a success” for delegates and the multi-branded franchise organization alike. —Michael Billig
