NEW YORK— John Miller, who ran most of the online businesses at media mogul Barry Dillers USA Interactive, reported he is leaving the company to head up his own start-up. Miller had helped run Ticketmaster, Hotels.com, and Expedia.com. He plans to stay on at USA until the end of the year, working part-time on a number of projects. With Millers contract at USA expired, the man often identified as the No. 3 executive at the Internet and media company sought a more entrepreneurial role. His new company, which has yet to be named and is backed by private equity firm General Catalyst Partners, will pursue many of the same e-commerce type businesses USA Interactive does— albeit on a much smaller scale— creating fresh transaction systems for sports and entertainment. The departure comes just months after USA sold its entertainment assets including the USA Network and the Sci-Fi channel to Vivendi Universal. SOURCE: Reuters
