LAKE PLACID, NY—Urgo Hotels & Resorts has purchased the Whiteface Lodge Resort, a AAA Four-Diamond resort located here. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
The 94-suite resort also includes 14 undeveloped acres, including pristine lakefront property.
The hotel is a contemporary rendition of 19th-century Adirondack resorts with wood-beam construction, hand-made furnishings and family-friendly amenities and activities.
“Having operated Whiteface Lodge for nearly three years, we were able to gain a complete understanding of the potential enterprise value of the Whiteface Lodge assets as a whole, including the operating business, the remaining for-sale real estate and undeveloped real estate,” stated Kevin Urgo, principal/managing partner of Urgo Hotels, adding, “We look forward to building upon our collaborative working relationship with the homeowners’ association to share ideas and make further improvements to the physical plant, guest amenities and service levels to enhance the experience of guests and owners alike.”
Whiteface Lodge Resort offers one- to four-bedroom suites along with a private residence club. The property features a 5,800-sq.-ft. spa with six treatment rooms and a fully equipped fitness center. The four-season resort also includes an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink, 54-seat movie theater, two bowling lanes, tennis courts, snowshoe/cross country trails and a private beach on Lake Placid with a canoe club providing boat rentals.
