NEW YORK— As previously reported by HOTEL BUSINESS®, Paul Underhill will take on the position of president/Millennium Hotels North America, replacing Robert Morse, who announced his departure to return to MeriStar Hotels & Resorts. Concurrently, Millennium Hotels has decided to relocate its management headquarters from Washington D.C. to New York City. The office will be situated at the company’s New York flagship property, the Millennium Hotel, New York, Broadway. The transition of all headquarters functions, including finance, human resources, revenue management, operations and sales and marketing will be completed by November 1. Underhill said the move makes sense, since Millennium has two owned hotels in New York City and two hotels that are owned and operated by the company. “Internally the relocation maximizes efficiency of operations; from a sales and communications perspective we benefit from being at the pulse of our most important market,” he said. In New York, Millennium owns and manages the Millennium Broadway and the Millennium Hotel, New York, UN Plaza. London based Millennium and Copthorne Hotels plc (MCL), under the CDL Hotels International umbrella, also has interests in The Plaza and the Millenium Hilton, which was damaged in the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. —Shannon McMullen
