Uncertainty Over Gala s Bid For Hilton Casinos

NEW YORK Uncertainty has arisen concerning Gala, the bingo chain, and its bid to acquire the Hilton Casinos. Hilton has refused to grant Gala its request for a six-week extension to its period of exclusivity, which otherwise ends on December 5, 2000. The news came amid reports that another party, thought to be Schroder Ventures, is interested in Hilton s Casino assets. The new bidder is believed to have offered more than Gala has, around #235 million. Hilton is understood to have received two other expressions of interest from Stanley Leisure and from London Clubs.
