LONDON— UK hotels will start to recover in the second half of 2002 said consultant PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). In the latest edition of Hospitality Directions, PWC said it expects a recovery in revenue per available room (RevPAR) to begin in 2002, although it does not expect this to be sufficient to reverse the declines of the first part of the year and forecasts that occupancies will continue to struggle. According to PWC, RevPAR declines will continue into 2002 with a 3.2% decline. It is not expected to rebound strongly until 2003 when it will return a positive growth of 7.9%.
