TIA Pinpoints Top States For Traveler Spending

WASHINGTON, D.C. According to data from the Travel Industry Association of America s (TIA) Tourism Works For America, 10th Annual Edition 2001, California ranked as the number one state overall in terms of total spending by domestic and international travelers, earning over $67 billion in expenditures. Rounding out the top three states were Florida with $53.6 billion in traveler spending, and New York with $34.2 billion.

The top three states where domestic travelers spent their money were California ($54.2 billion), Florida ($36.9 billion) and Texas ($28.3 billion). International travelers spent the most money in Florida ($16.7 billion), California ($12.9 billion), and New York ($8.6 billion), said the TIA. (3/27/01)
