NATIONAL REPORT—Tryp by Wyndham sails into Miami’s Bay Harbor, Lido House readies to open a beach house retreat in California, and there are more U.S. hotel projects. Here’s a closer look:
Tryp by Wyndham Miami Bay Harbor
Tryp by Wyndham boosted its growing presence in Florida with the opening of a newly constructed, 96-room hotel on Miami’s Bay Harbor Islands.
“We are focused on growing the Tryp by Wyndham brand throughout the U.S. in destinations with character and charm that travelers want to discover,” said Mark Kukulski, president, Wyndham Hotel Group Management. “Tryp by Wyndham Miami Bay Harbor—with its prime waterfront location and Miami flair—is the perfect example of a unique destination not always uncovered by travelers, offering guests a chance to confidently cruise their way around the Bay Harbor Islands, a slice of Miami adored by locals.”
Located a short distance from the island’s shopping at the Bal Harbour Shops, dining and beaches, the hotel offers a heated rooftop pool and bar with 360-degree views of the waterways, beach and surrounding area. Accommodations include one- and two-bedroom suites with views, as well as access to the hotel’s fitness center and lobby lounge, which are scheduled to open later this year.
Also coming soon, there will be a signature gastro pub for tapas, or small plates, inspired by the brand’s Mediterranean roots.
Lido House
Lido House, an Autograph Collection hotel, is set for a March opening. Nearing completion in Newport Beach, CA, the resort is a celebration of Southern California’s coastal lifestyle, delivering an authentic beach house retreat, according to the brand.
A legacy project by local developer Robert D. Olson, Lido House is set on the site of the former City Hall and pays homage to the historic landmark. The 130-guestroom resort set on 100,000 sq. ft., is proximate to Lido Marina Village, the city’s marina, retail and dining hub.
Embracing the home-away-from-home concept, Lido House will have five residential-style, three-level cottages spanning 1,300 sq. ft., including a rooftop patio, personal BBQ and fireplace. Each of the one-of-a-kind cottages will have a distinct and authentic design motif created by a different local designer: Grace Blu Design, Jennifer Mehditash Design, Brooke Wagner Designer, Erica Bryen Design and Blackband Design.
Grand Orlando Resort
Grand Orlando Resort at Celebration, formerly the Radisson Resort Orlando-Celebration, is now open in Kissimmee, FL.
The property has 718 rooms and suites, and will undergo a multimillion-dollar refurbishment of public areas and guestrooms. The hotel is scheduled to be flagged as a Delta Hotel by Marriott in the fall.
In addition, there’s more than 10,000 sq. ft. of flexible indoor/outdoor event space for groups of 12 to 350. Dining is plentiful with three restaurant outlets, including a poolside lounge.
