NEW YORK—After years of working behind the scenes in the mattress industry, Dan Hauber endeavored to create bedding products that he couldn’t find on the market. His journey eventually led him to creating his own line of design-driven foam mattresses and bedding products made in the U.S. Founded two years ago, Wright is now tapping into the hospitality market.
“We built Wright with an appreciation for American craftsmanship and ingenuity,” said Hauber, whose company is based here. “And, we strive to live up to that legacy with thoughtful design and lasting products for the most important spaces in our customer’s lives.”
For Hauber, Wright’s products ideally meet the bedding needs for the lodging industry. “We really put the focus on quality, materials and design,” he said. “We put a lot of thought into that pillow to make it as comfortable as possible, but also focus on the aesthetic design, patterns and colors.”
The flagship Wright 1.27 mattress was designed and engineered to offer an optimal balance between comfort and support, according to the company. After more than two years of product testing and 26 prototypes, Wright discovered the right balance with its 27th iteration. The mattress features five layers of viscoelastic memory foam with precisely tuned density and airflow gradients, according to the bedding company.
The Wright 1.27 mattress features a top layer consisting of 1.5 in. of ultra-high-density memory foam. It aims to provide an unparalleled feeling of weightlessness, while the next two layers of temperature-responsive foam attempt to deliver just the right amount of bounce and spring, according to Wright. The bottom base layers offer full ergonomic support and perfect alignment.
To prevent heat trapping, a drawback of many foam mattresses, the top foam layer is infused with heat-wicking particles, and all foam layers are ventilated with a cross-hatching of air passages, according to Wright. Additionally, the mattress features ventilated side vents to increase breathability and circulate air. A quilted fabric shell reinforces smooth-fitting sheets.
Wright meticulously selects every material and component for its long-lasting value, and each mattress comes with a 15-year warranty and 60-day money-back guarantee. All Wright mattresses, manufactured in Georgia, are compatible with any surface, including a standard box spring.
“We spend a third of our lives in bed. It’s where we recharge and reset, making it one of the most important elements of our personal space,” said Hauber. “With that in mind, a mattress should empower you to wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.”
In addition to providing mattresses, Wright offers a 500-thread count Supima cotton sheet set that includes a flat sheet, a fitted sheet and two pillowcases available in a white shade. According to the company, Supima is the highest quality American long-staple cotton, grown in Arizona and California, where the sheets are sewn. Wright also sells pillows and duvets made of duck down purchased from farms in the Midwest and manufactured in Southern Ohio.
“Our 100% white duck down is sourced from verified farms in the U.S.,” said Hauber. “We use the highest quality. The problem with down pillows is that they feel great the first few night but, over time, the down separates and your head sinks down in the middle. We rethought how they’re put together. We put a central chamber running though the pillow that keeps 25% of the down collected in the center so it can’t spread out.”
Additionally, Wright has partnered with Brooklyn-based textile designer Caroline Z. Hurley on a linen duvet cover. Hurley and her team of artisans, based in Massachusetts, produce block printing and handmade designs. Wright collaborated with the designer to develop custom patterns and colors.
Wright has outfitted the four cabin rooms at Urban Cowboy, a bed and breakfast in Brooklyn, NY, with the Wright 1.27 mattress. The property received overwhelming positive guest feedback regarding the sleep experience. Guest have even inquired about purchasing the bedding product for their homes. HB
