CHENGDU, CHINA—St. Regis Hotels & Resorts recently opened its newest property, The St. Regis Chengdu, here. Debuting 110 years after the first St. Regis hotel in New York City opened its doors in 1904, The St. Regis Chengdu continues the luxury brand’s global reach with 33 hotels around the world.
“The St. Regis Chengdu marks a significant milestone for the brand with plans to double the St. Regis portfolio in Greater China in the next five years,” said Paul James, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection and W Hotels Worldwide. “As the world descends on Chengdu for both business and leisure, the St. Regis is poised to become the social center of this exhilarating city.”
As the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China, Chengdu has evolved from an ancient city with rich cultural traditions to one known around the world as “the Silicon Valley of China”—a vital hub for world commerce and home to more than 252 Fortune 500 companies, according to Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
The St. Regis Chengdu, located near Tianfu Square and Chun Xi Road, offers 279 guestrooms and suites artfully designed to blend the residential Art Deco style of the 1920s with traditional elements of Sichuan culture and technology.
“We are honored to debut the St. Regis in Chengdu, one of the fastest growing metropolitan cities in the world,” said Richard Deutl, General Manager, The St. Regis Chengdu. “We look forward to offering our global guests and distinguished residents the highest level of personalized service delivered by our signature St. Regis butlers, who have traded in their silver trays for smart phones to cater to a new generation of luxury travelers.”
With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, The St. Regis Chengdu will also provide venues for events with over 11,840 sq. ft. of meeting spaces, accommodating both intimate social and high-level corporate gatherings with the uncompromising service for which St. Regis is known.
The newest Iridium Spa, exclusive to St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, offers nine treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, and a modern fitness center. St. Regis is the only luxury hotel in Chengdu to offer both indoor and outdoor swimming pools for in-house guests and St. Regis Athletic Club members, according to Starwood.
The St. Regis Chengdu will feature six restaurants and lounges, including Social, a signature all-day dining restaurant; Yan Ting, a specialty Chinese restaurant featuring authentic Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine; Yun Fu, with four distinct private dining rooms on Level 27; Decanter, Chengdu’s only dedicated wine bar with a selection of fine wine labels, liquors and aged cigars; Vantage XXVII, an outdoor sky bar; and The Drawing Room, offering the signature St. Regis afternoon tea and champagne sabering ritual as well as the Chuan Mary, a spicier version of the famous St. Regis Bloody Mary cocktail, re-imagined for Chengdu with Sichuan peppercorn oil and pickled chili.
