LAS VEGAS— The Park at MGM Grand, a distinctive location for an outdoor event, is slated to open on May 1. According to Martie Sparks, vp/catering and convention services at the MGM Grand, this outdoor venue will offer open-air ambiance combined with modern conveniences for parties, receptions, meetings and other events. The Park is located adjacent to the MGM Grand, the MGM Grand Conference Center and the Grand Garden Arena. Sparks noted that The Park can offer convention groups a break from their main meeting space and assorted breakout rooms. Attendees can go outside for lunch, dinner or a themed reception. Separate access and drop-off areas for buses, limousines and taxis, along with a private entrance for guests, are designed to make The Park convenient for corporate picnics, private parties, wedding receptions and special events. Located on the former site of the MGM Grand Adventures Theme Park, this 10-acre facility accommodates groups from 350 to 7,000. Four distinct areas make up the bulk of The Park: The Amphitheater, an 11,837-square-foot, 950-seat outdoor theater; The Island, a 9,404-square-foot venue with surrounding greenery; The Center Stage, a 25,873-square-foot lawn area; and Festival Square, a 68,837- square-foot concert space with a backdrop of pine trees. In addition, The Park features five themed streets and two indoor theaters. Each indoor theater seats between 600 and 700 and can host a variety of events ranging from small presentations to full-scale shows, concerts and television productions. There are also indoor spaces for smaller groups, meeting breakouts or added activity areas. The Parks five themed streets, including Western and Mardi Gras themes, can be used as individual venues, allowing multiple parties to be held at the same time, or in unison for a park-wide event.
