WHITEFIELD, NH— Once a haven for presidents, movie stars, athletes and socialites, the Mountain View Grand is again preparing to open its doors as a premier resort destination. The 1865 Colonial Revival style resort, located in the heart of the White Mountains, is being restored to its former grandeur, and infused with contemporary aesthetics and amenities for todays discriminating traveler. The extensive $20 million restoration will be completed in May 2002. Two years of detailed planning have gone into reconfiguring the hotels original 200 guestrooms into 146 guestrooms for added space and comfort. All rooms are capable of individual climate control. Room décor is enhanced with custom-made mahogany furniture arranged for enjoying panoramic mountain views, which can be appreciated from every room. A variety of individual room styles and sizes are available, including those with whirlpool baths, private balconies, bay windows and two-room suites. While designed to help escape everyday burdens, each guestroom is equipped for staying in touch, with telephones that have internet dataports, dedicated Internet capability and oversized televisions. Room service and twice-daily housekeeping are also provided. In addition, the resort features over 20,000 square feet of modern meeting space and numerous settings for breakout meetings and banquets, including the historical Eisenhower Library. The Spangler Conference Center is a 6,500-square-foot, state of the art meeting facility designed to accommodate up to 350 attendees. A full-service business center offers a wide range of office amenities for last minute needs.
