DALLAS—The downtown Dallas Joule Hotel plans a year-long $78 million renovation and expansion that will include reconfiguring a building adjacent to the existing hotel.
The existing three-year-old hotel was an adaptive reuse of the former 1920s-era Mercantile National Bank Building. The expansion will add 31 guestrooms and suites, giving the hotel a total of 160 keys. The expansion will also allow the hotel to add a full-service spa, more meeting space, a rooftop lounge, recording studio, and second food and beverage outlet, a gourmet food hall. Chef Charlie Palmer, who operates The Joule’s existing restaurant, will be in charge of the food hall as well.
The Adam Tihany design firm has been put in charge of both the renovation of the existing facilities and design of the new ones. Work is scheduled to be completed in a year. The hotel plans to remain open, while the work proceeds.
