NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— The Heldrich, a new $120-million mixed-use property, is slated to open here on March 9. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on March 1. Benchmark Hospitality International operates the hotel and conference center at the property, which is located at 10 Livingston Ave. The hotel at The Heldrich features 248 guestrooms; Christopher’s Restaurant & Bar; and two ballrooms. The 25,000-square-foot conference center includes an amphitheater, boardroom and 21 meeting rooms. Additionally, The Heldrich includes 48 luxury condominiums presented by Trammell Crow, scheduled to open mid-March; a free-standing restaurant and wine bar opening March 31; the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers Universitys Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, opening mid-April; and upscale retail boutiques, opening late May. Adorning the lobby and public spaces of The Heldrich are original works of art by New Jersey artists, which were commissioned, purchased or are on loan to the property. The mixed-use facility is a redevelopment project of New Brunswick Development Corp. (Devco), a non-profit real estate development company.
