SCOTTSDALE, AZ— Construction is underway for the 44,000-square-foot spa at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess with a grand opening slated for December 2001. The $16-million spa includes 33,000 square feet of interior space and an additional 11,000 square feet of open-air courtyards and a roof-top oasis pool. When completed, the spa will offer three levels, linked with a flowing waterfall, housed within a Spanish Colonial style exterior. The Valley, or main level of the spa, hosts the reception area with a welcoming fireplace, a full-service salon, fitness center, exercise studio, and meditation courtyard. Below, the Canyon level has a male and female spa area, 25 treatment rooms, and an open-air canyon meditation garden. The resort currently operates a 10,000-square-foot spa with six treatment rooms. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is planning additional resort spa developments at The Empress in British Columbia, The Fairmont Southampton Princess in Bermuda, and The Fairmont Acapulco Princess in Mexico.
