WASHINGTON—The Embassy Row Hotel, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, has begun a $15-million renovation. This week, the hotel launches phase one in the renovation, which will transform the hotel’s rooftop terrace and pool, in time for a summer opening.
The Embassy Row Hotel offers the only outdoor rooftop terrace in Dupont Circle with views of the city, including a view of the Washington Monument. The rooftop terrace and pool, located on the 9th floor, will be completely renovated in less than three months. Teak seating, modern landscape architecture and the addition of food and beverage services will enhance the outdoor space. Expected completion of the rooftop terrace and pool is June 2014.
“The Embassy Row Hotel has always enjoyed its premier location in Dupont Circle. The new rooftop terrace and pool will reflect our urban location, creativity, innovation and international culture,” stated Shawn Jervis, general manager of The Embassy Row Hotel. “Our team is excited to continue to unveil the hotel’s new engaging, social spaces and provide a timeless experience for our guests and the community.”
In phase two, the hotel renovations of all nine floors and 231 guestrooms will include a new redesigned lobby, a social bar, grab-n-go barista station, new meeting space and a new fitness studio. Decor in the guestrooms and common areas will reflect its Washington origin, re-styled with a modern inspired design. The lobby bar will open up to outdoor seating overlooking Embassy Row and feature light bites, unique drinks and outlets for connected visitors.
“Our goal is to be the neighborhood gathering place for global thinkers,” Jervis said. “Staying true to DC and the city’s authenticity is important to us—and that’s the experience we want to deliver to every guest and local.”
