WASHINGTON, D.C.— Whitewood, LLC, a Charleston, S.C.-based hotel development group, announced the completion of a multi-million dollar renovation of The Churchill Hotel on Connecticut Avenue in Washington, D.C. The former Sofitel hotel remained open during the comprehensive renovation that focused on a complete remodeling of the guest rooms/suites and baths; public areas, including the lobby and meeting rooms; and developing a new upscale restaurant and bar. The newly restored property, originally built in 1906 as a luxury apartment building in the Beaux Arts architectural style, features 144 oversized guestrooms and suites, 1,800 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, and the Chartwell Grill and lounge. Located at 1914 Connecticut Ave., NW, above Dupont Circle, the nine-story landmark hotel is operated by MeriStar Hotels & Resorts.
