MCLEAN, VA—Tapestry Collection by Hilton continues to grow with the addition of four hotels, all of which anchor notable southern cities in America. The Troubadour New Orleans has opened, and The Cotton Sail Hotel Savannah (GA) and Hotel Ballast Wilmington (NC) have been signed and are set to debut as part of Hilton’s collection in 2018. Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center has also been added to the portfolio.
“These distinctive properties truly reflect the independent spirit of our collection for their character, vibrant locales and history,” said Mark Nogal, global head, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. “From the rich culture of New Orleans, reflected by The Troubadour through its locally inspired offerings and location in the heart of the city, to coastal towns brimming with southern charm, these hotels undergird our efforts to build an authentic collection brand in markets that reach travelers seeking original, independent hotel options—all backed by a brand they know and trust.”
Located in the Central Business District near the Mississippi River, The Troubadour is a 184-guestroom boutique hotel that offers the Petit Lion, a casual bistro, and the Monkey Board, a rooftop bar.
Situated in the heart of old Savannah, GA’s National Landmark and the Historic District, The Cotton Sail Hotel is designed to blend traditional Savannah charm with upscale modern amenities. Housed within a refurbished late-1800s cotton warehouse, the 56-guestroom hotel will offer the River House Restaurant and Top Deck—one of Savannah’s only rooftop bars overlooking the historic area below and the Savannah River.
Located in historic downtown Wilmington, NC, Hotel Ballast first opened as an inn in 1970 and was the first constructed along Water St. With its name inspired by the maritime significance in the destination, Hotel Ballast is undergoing an $8.5-million restoration including its 272 guestrooms, meetings space, pool, lobby and corridors as well as adding a bridal suite leading up to its entrance into the collection next year.
Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center also joined the collection. Nogal noted, “An intimate and spacious retreat for both business and leisure travelers, Virginia Crossings honors the region’s heritage while also offering everything savvy, modern travelers appreciate.”
Featuring 183 rooms and suites with more than 28,000 sq. ft. of flexible event space, the Southern-style estate includes a variety of gardens, and is next to the Crossings Golf Course—an 18-hole course designed by prolific golf course architect Joe Lee. Other recreation highlights include a 24-hour fitness center, a sand volleyball court, an outdoor swimming pool and activities such as basketball and horseshoes. A ballroom that seats up to 400 is also available, and the hotel also offers two restaurants.
The hotel is owned and managed by Oliver Companies Inc.
