DALLAS— Wyndham International appointed two regional directors of operations for Summerfield Suites by Wyndham, who will oversee the brand’s revenue management and help implement Wyndham’s brand standards in all 38 Summerfield properties. Based in Parsippany, NJ, Chuck Pomerantz will oversee the 15 owned and managed properties in Georgia, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Illinois. Alan Mass will be responsible for the overall operations of 13 owned and managed Summerfield Suites properties throughout Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Washington, and California. Both report directly to Robert Burg, divisional svp/operations of Wyndham International and Summerfield Suites. “They will be responsible for overseeing the general managers at the properties, generating revenue, controlling and training the staff, and hiring new employees,” said Burg. “They will also ensure that the sales processes are in place and that the general managers are fostering the sales processes through their director of sales.” Currently, Summerfield has four regional directors: two directors of operations and two directors of sales. Burg added that the brand will appoint addition managers as its portfolio grows. “We believe we can double or triple our size over the next five to 10 years,” he said. Summerfield has recently launched an aggressive franchising program, and already has 10 franchised hotels in its portfolio. The company also pans to develop through acquisitions and conversions in “avenues that extended-stay properties have not yet penetrated,” such as urban, resort, and offshore markets. In addition, Wyndham brand standards are currently being implemented in all Summerfield properties. By December 31, all of the hotels under the Wyndham umbrella will offer the same amenities, such as bedding, feather pillows, and cordless phones. —Diana M. Rodriguez
