BOSTON— The Charles Street Jail here will be reborn as the Liberty Hotel next summer following an extensive historic renovation. The hotel is a national historic landmark and located at the foot of Beacon Hill. It is estimated that the project, including acquisition, renovation and construction, will cost $120 million. Carpenter & Co. of Cambridge, MA, is the developer of the Liberty Hotel. MTM Luxury Lodging of Seattle will operate the property. Stuart Meyerson has been named general manager of the hotel. Meyerson has had a long tenure with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and most recently served as general manager for its hotels in Cambridge and Newport, RI. Sean Reardon has been appointed as the hotels director of sales and marketing. Reardon is the former director of sales and marketing for the Westin Copley Place in Boston. He has also previously served as the area director of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The Liberty Hotel will have 300 guestrooms, three food and beverage venues and 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. The Liberty Hotel’s architect is Cambridge Seven Associates. Alexandra Champalimaud & Associates, Inc. of New York is responsible for the interior design. The general contractor is Suffolk Construction of Boston.
