NEW YORK Smith Travel Research (STR) has released preliminary March 2001 figures for the U.S. lodging industry, noting that U.S. industry occupancy for the month will be down 1 2% compared to the same month last year. RevPAR growth should be flat to up 1% in March 2001 versus last year. Preliminary March 2001 figures also indicate fairly significant performance variability among the chain scale segments. (4/6/01)
