WHITE PLAINS, NY— As previously reported on HotelBusiness.com, Steven J. Heyer has been officially named the new CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts replacing company founder Barry Sternlicht. Heyer was most recently the president and COO of The Coca-Cola Co. and will join Starwood on Oct. 1. He will report to the company’s board of directors. Sternlicht will assume the position of executive chairman, where he will reduce his role and work with Heyer and the team to focus on long-term strategy and provide guidance on capital investment and real estate matters. He also will now assume the role of chief design officer for Starwood.
