WHITE PLAINS, NY—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. plans to open its 1,000 branded hotel in 2009. The company also plans on seeing 100 properties open around the world this year. Furthermore, Starwood remains on track to expand its portfolio by more than 40% in the next five years. Its current pipeline contains more than 400 hotels, 60% of which will open outside of the U.S.
