WHITE PLAINS, NY— The Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, held its grand opening Oct. 1 on the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona, marking the Sheraton brand’s 400th property. The hotel is located 11 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on the grounds of the Pima and Maricopa tribes. In honor of the land’s heritage, the hotel features: 500 culturally themed rooms; 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space; a 1,000-acre Koli Equestrian Center; a 17,500 square foot Aji Spa with treatments incorporating Native traditions; and two 18-hole golf courses. In addition, Kai, an indigenous restaurant concept created by award-winning Chef Janos Wilder of Tucson, is also located on the property. The resort also offers a 2.5-mile re-creation of the Gila River with indigenous flora and fauna, boats to the Golf Club and the Casino, a riverside pool with cascading waterfalls, and the Wild Horse Pass Casino adjacent to the resort.
