SAN FRANCISCO— Stanford Hotels plans to develop a 600-room convention hotel in Burlingame, CA adjacent to the San Francisco International Airport and next to the 404-room Sheraton Gateway Hotel. Stanford plans to develop a 12-story building with luxury penthouse suites, two restaurants, a European spa, health club facilities, and 30,000 square feet of meeting space. Hotel plans have been submitted to the city for environmental and planning review, which should be completed in the first quarter of 2002. Stanford is talking to a number of franchisors in order to select the appropriate brand for the hotel.
