BOULDER, CO- HOTELBUSINESS. has learned that the developers of the proposed St. Julien Hotel in Boulder, set to open in the spring of 2003, are still considering flagging the property with a national brand. According to developer Bruce Porcelli, managing partner of St. Julien Partners, the group hopes to develop the hotel with a Boulder feel, but has not settled on a name.
“[St. Julien] is a working name; its still in the preliminary stages,” he said.
However, Porcelli was quick to note that the partners want the property to have a unique feel. “We want to build a custom hotel from the ground-up, we dont want it to feel like a cookie-cutter hotel,” he said.
In other news, St. Julien Partners, has decided to add a second property to its hotel portfolio. The new project will be located in North Boulder near an IBM office building. The property will total less than 150 rooms and will be a full-service, three-star hotel with a restaurant, according to Porcelli. The project will target business travelers, and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2002. St. Julien is still in processing of selecting a flag for the hotel. (9/7/00) –Diana M. Rodriguez
