Spring Travel Increases Slightly

WASHINGTON, D.C. The Travel Industry Association of America s (TIA) Spring 2001 Travelometer predicts that 147.4 million Americans will take personal leisure trips this March, April, and May, which represents a 1.6% increase over last spring. More than 85% of this year s spring trips will be for leisure travel.

Among those travelers that also vacationed last spring, 20% plan to travel more this spring, 50% plan to travel about the same amount, and 13% plan to travel less. (3/14/01)
