LAS VEGAS— At HD 2002’s Town Hall Meeting on the state of the hotel industry here, MeriStars svp/development, Bill Reynolds, told attendees that as a result of the MeriStar-Interstate merger, he “could see a lot of capital expenditure improvements in the future.” Indeed, as previously reported by HOTEL BUSINESS®, the merger will increase MeriStar’s total number of hotels in its portfolio to 412 hotels, and will add 28,000 rooms to its already hefty room count of 50,000. Further commenting on the merger, Reynolds said, “It will create a powerhouse of a management company.”
