CHICAGO— In what could be good news for hotels, Southwest Airlines said on Wednesday that bookings are coming in at “very robust levels,” according to Reuters. CFO Gary Kelly said in a conference call that over the past few days the airline has been ahead of where it thought it would be at this point. Southwest had earlier said that its percentage of seats filled in September fell to 53.4%, from 65.7% September 2000. Kelly said as of Sept. 30, the airline had $1.5 billion cash on hand. It has received $144 million from the government in direct aid and expects to receive another $144 million.
